Friday February the 28th 2025, ACA Timber SIA has signed a binding agreement for the purchase of 100% of the shares in the Latvian forestry and logistics company Metsä Forest Latvia SIA from Metsä Group’s parent company Metsäliitto Cooperative.
The closing of this transaction, which is still subject to approval by the competition authority, is expected within the second quarter of 2025. Both parties have agreed to treat the terms of the transaction confidentially.
Juha Jumppanen, EVP of Metsä Forest, highlights: “The divestment of Metsä Forest Latvia comes one year after a similar process in Estonia and is consistent with Metsä Group’s strategy of advancing its international supply chain flexibility. The partners have also agreed long-term deliveries of pulpwood and chips to Metsä Group.”
Metsä Forest Latvia ― soon to be renamed into ACA Forest ― is a tight, disciplined and well-organized team of 34 employees with decades of experience and connections to the Latvian forestry sector through its own logging operations, will be led by its current long-time CEO Juris Antonevics.
The new company will add important know-how and remarkable volumes to ACA’s existing business as an independent forest partner to the wood industry in the Baltics and Northern Europe.
For ACA Timber’s CEO Armands Apfelbaums and his partners in Sweden and Germany, this acquisition will boost their operations in the Baltic region as well as in the rest of Northern Europe: “By welcoming 34 new colleagues and expanding our access to the forests and Baltic ports, all of our customers will profit from a long-term procurement security”.
